The Glass is Too Big - Home

Back From Ireland

Irish landscapes
Late yesterday afternoon/early evening, we dragged our baggage across the threshold and completed our return home from a little over a week spent on the great island of Ireland.

The trip was fantastic and was a whirlwind of activities and sights that matched up well with the reasons we wanted to go there in the first place.

We stayed in 3 different cities, put 1200 km on the rental car while driving on the left, saw castles and cathedrals, had our breath taken away by gorgeous landscapes and shook hands with a mummified soldier from The Crusades. We climbed deep into the earth to see a giant stalactite and drove down single lane roads with oncoming traffic.

We had lots of "full Irish" breakfasts, fish 'n' chips, bangers 'n' mash, colcannon, Irish stew, and even a really good chicken chimichanga, resulting in my belt returning on a different notch than it was when we left.

I'll undoubtedly have more to say about it and will be posting more photos from the 1000 or so I took over the coming days and weeks. However, I did want to make a quick post and share a few highlighted photos, which are up on Flickr.

As my body is still convinced that it's not 6:00pm instead of midnight, I'll keep this short and say that if you've been tempted to visit Ireland, the temptation is not ill-founded. Go.

Totally wacky coincidence. I'll be taking an 8 day trip to Ireland in September. I might email you separately with questions and advice. I will not anxiously follow your blog for the next few weeks.
