Old Friends, Americana and Mat d and the Profane Saints

I had a friend from high school (one of the few friends I had back then) contact me today and not only is he still a genuinely cool guy, but he's fronting a rockin' Americana band from the midwest: Mat d. and the Profane Saints. To top it all off, among the few songs he's got online is a murder ballad, one of my all-time favorite niche genres of music. Mat, you've been added to the big playlist, man. Do yourself a favor and pick up his 5 song EP. Well worth the $5 and you get to support independent music. I might just have to make a run to Sioux City to catch a gig one of these days.
