After one more of these sites that is using Liveperson's services, I'm really starting to wonder about their software. Over and over and over again, I hit sites where, 3 minutes after the page loads, the browser is still grabbing data from their server. The main reason it bugs me is that Firefox won't populate passwords, etc. while it's still "building the page". I'm personally going to be adding their servers to my HOSTS file, pointing to localhost to kill all of the requests. I've never needed to do a live chat with a customer service rep anyway and HAVE had to kill more than one window launched by a "helpful" CSR that wanted to explain their multitiered pricing and just how easy automatic billing to a credit card can be.
If your customer service software is causing your customers to blacklist you, you may want to reconsider your approach.
