Home Theater Furniture
In trying to get the house settled for the long haul, we're getting a new bed (comes Thursday), moving our existing bed to the lower level guest room. That left the main floor living room as the only "empty" room. Since we have been wanting a different long-term solution for the home theater, we decided to explore moving the set that's currently in the theater up into the living room and get new stuff for the theater. However, we've been discovering just how difficult it can be to actually increase the number of seats (the one deficiency that has been bugging us). At the moment, without bringing down another chair, there's really only 4 seats in the theater.
We went to the stores this weekend to figure out what our options really were. . .
Sectional sofas seemed to be the most logical choice, but measuring all of them in the 1st store resulted in pretty severe disappointment. The way things are currently oriented just doesn't allow for any of the sectionals to fit. Fortunately, we met an extremely helpful sales person who went through the catalogs laying out our options (Lana Williams at Furniture Manor in Osseo). We took her homework home and I scanned the layout sheets and messed with them until I ended up with what I think is the current plan. It gives us 7 seats (though price may move that down to 6 by the time we're done), a spot for a THX width projection screen, longer throw for he eventual projector, better flow from the garage to the rest of the house and, with a privacy/dressing screen, hides all of the theater components behind the TV. I'm going to sit on this for a couple of days to see if there are any things that bug me about it before we go back to look at the options again.
